FRIENDS POLICIES
Trustees must act responsibly, reasonably and honestly with respect to the charity and its management. This is sometimes called the duty of prudence, which is essentially about exercising sound judgement and is directed towards:
- making sure the charity’s assets are only used to support or carry out its purposes
- not taking inappropriate risks with the charity’s assets or reputation
- not over-committing the charity
- taking special care when investing or borrowing
- complying with any restrictions on spending funds
As trustees we will put appropriate policies in place and take reasonable steps to ensure that these are followed. Otherwise there is a risk of making the charity vulnerable to fraud or theft, or other kinds of abuse, and being in breach of our duties as trustees.
Policies will be formally reviewed at each Committee Meeting and, where appropriate, revised and updated.
