Gdansk and the Hanseatic League.

Our new FCELH Chair, Anne Coyne, is a medievalist whose main area of research is the religious and mercantile history of medieval Newark.  The people she studies range from chantry chaplains to former Archbishops of York and wool and cloth merchants with a link to the Hanseatic League and the eastern seaboard ports.  This fascinating history led her to join the modern Boston Hanse Group and you can learn more about the group’s trip to Gdansk here.  Anne is also interested in Anglo Saxon England and is currently helping to research the Synod of Hatfield (679) for the Battle of Hatfield Investigation Society.
