More terraced housing in Leicester
Friday 29th November 2024, 2pm to 4pm, Satta Hashem Hall, Leicester Adult Education Centre, Wellington Street, Leicester LE1 6ZG.
EMOHA and colleagues in the Centre for Urban History at the University of Leicester have decided to look for funding to run a project that examines various aspects of Leicester’s terraced housing, both historic and current.
In June 2024 there was a workshop about terraced housing in Leicester and you can read more about that event and what we are hoping to achieve on our blog post here.
There will be another event on Friday 29th November 2024 for those who couldn’t make it to the first. Once again this will be a chance to hear about the history of terraced housing from speakers Colin Hyde, Lucy Faire & Ned Newitt, and then add your thoughts on what aspects of terraced housing in Leicester should be investigated. Anyone connected with local housing associations and community/neighbourhood groups would be particularly welcome – but all are welcome.
The event will be at the Satta Hashem Hall, Leicester Adult Education Centre, Wellington Street, Leicester LE1 6ZG. The workshop will run from 2pm to 4pm and refreshments will be provided. Please email Colin Hyde on ch38@leicester.ac.uk to book a place.
One of the main goals is to investigate how the people of Leicester have lived in terraced houses and adapted them to their needs. This may reflect many aspects of people’s lives, such as their personality, faith, or nationality.
